Under the distinguished patrohige of his Majesty the King of Italy, xt Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated Uth March, 1876. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucylyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the'committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ;. but as the qualities of both of the products are in manyjcases directly Opposed to one another, we' consider it Our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts:— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to .be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon tne skiri. ; Any blistering brought on by the ap l plication of a medicament must iniireasfc innamation, and it is therefore fcvidenfc that in'cases of: wounds, colds,, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains &c., the curatiTe power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by fdrnler publications in this paper; An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. - - The truth of our assertion is founded npotithe fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; Our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the guin leaves, Soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is Only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials; vials bearing on the, labels our trade' 1 mark and signature; SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufacturers of the Eucalyptus Extract.
