NOTICE; • DURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS ■ GLOBULUS EXTRACT, Under the distinguished patroilige of his Majesty the King of Italy, \t Rome, according to communication .•eceived from the Consul-General for Italy, at Upon instruc* tions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, i8?8. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eacylvp* tug oil found in the trade instead df our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the com;mitting of inapositiou against the public in such a ease ia concerned, the consequences would not be serious ) but as the qualities of both of the products are in many]cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the fol* lowing facts:—The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in eases of rheumatism of! secondary nattire, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect Upon the skin. Any blistering bfought on by the apf plication of a medicament must increase inflamation,.and it is therefore evident that in cases of wottnds, colds, broh* chitis, diptheria, croup, sprains &c.> the cUrative power of Odr extract on the named diseases being Unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the. oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased; The trUth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to Common turpentine, its market value being about three shilliugs one pound weight j our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leavCSj toothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sons, Sandhurst, rpcom- 1 mends itself by the following declaration and testimonials;— Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohii, J.P., on the 17th October, 1877, at Sandhurst:—" Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe, of Ironbark, for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sauder and Sons,. pro-, curing some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and by the ap* plication of the same he had the satisfaction ot seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger, and he has.sow quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bendigo Eveniug News : Mr Gieschin, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a veiy severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all .-medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cured after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long' Gully, applied the extract, and the ac-. cident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbia (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in : the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel "Buffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of "considerable size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swelling completely by a continued applica-r----tion of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December, 1877, states:- Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache. The extract was' applied, and the little fellow was cured" and asleep in ten uo unites.. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand.
