The Chronicle says there must be a dissolution next session-, and has to fear that Governor Robinsori will refuse. A letter from the Sydney Exhibition Commissioners says that the Prince of Wales has accepted the presidency of the Exhibition. Several more meetings of creditors are called, and others are reported imminent. Efforts will be made to get gangs of men to commence clearing the streets at midnight, so as to have them clean for the following day’s traffic. May 12. Henry Anderson, of the Chronicle, was brought up this morning charged with having committed a deadly assault upon R. C. Easby, blind maker, in Ins own house, but this information was amended to one of “ wilfully and maliciously wounding .Easby with a pair of tongs, such being an indictable offence.” The Magistrate said the case was of too serious a nature for him to deal with it. Anderson’s counsel notified that his client had laid a counter-informa-tion of a precisely similar nature against Easby, who appeared to be very much cut and braised about the face. The adjourned meeting of gentlemen who proposed to celebrate Moore’s Centenary took place last night, and it was resolved that the commemoration should take the form of a banquet. The Governor tookaway from Canterbury three short horn cows for his farm at Wellington, bought and shipped by Messrs J. T. Ford and Co, Dr Moritz Marks, who lately resigned from the Hospital Medical Staff, committed suicide this afternoon by taking morphia and chloral. A deaf and dumb man, who has lately been obtaining subscriptions here, to enable him to pay his passage to Melbourne, was found by one of his charitable subscribers the other evening enjoying a game of billiards at an hotel.
