KUMARA VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.

• The ! thud meeting of the Kumara Volunteer Fire Brigade was held last evening, at King’s Adelphi Hotel. Present : Capfc. Pow«‘lI, Lieut. Anderson, Foi'emau North, Secretary Skilton, Messrs O’Brieil,, Magee, Dove, Fitz; summons, King, Valentine, and Grams

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and continued.

Correspondence from the Secretary of the Westland Fire Brigade Association relative to the Kumara Brigade joining was received.

The outward correspondonce was read and approved of. The Auditors’ Report and Balancesheet were read and adopted. It was resolved that the amount in the members’ fund be withdrawn and divided.

Mr Magee moved and Mr Dove seconded the following resolution : “ That in consequence of the promised subsidy from the Insurance Companies not being fotthcoming, this Brigade disband," The resolution Was carried.

Captain Powell moved and Mr King seconded, “ That the Secretary be instructed to write to the Borough Council, thanking them for their ready support to the Brigade, and informing them that the Brigade has disbanded.” The motion was Carried unanimously. Lieut. Anderson moved, and-, Fore man North seconded, “ That a vote of thanks be recorded in the minutes, to the Proprietors of the Kumara Times, for their general courtesy to the Brigade.” Carried unanimously. It was also moved and seconded, “ That at vote of thanks be recorded in the minutes to Capt. Powell, for the indefatigable manner in which he has always discharged his duties.” Carried unanimously.

It was moved, seconded, and carried,. “ That a vote of thanks be recorded in the minutes, to Secretary Skilton.” Mr Magee proposed, and Mr Dov® seconded, “That the minutes as read be confirmed.”—Carried.

This terminated the proceedings of the Knmara Volunteer Fire Brigade.
