The relieving forces started for Ekowe yesterday, consisting of 6000 men with Gatling guns and a rocket column. The troops are in good health. On the 30th Colonel Pearson signalled from Ekowe that 200 were disabled leaving only 500 effective. It is stated that 35,000 Zulus await the arrival of Ekowe relieving force. Two thousand Zulus attacked Colonel Wood’s Cam]) near Luneherg. After severe fighting which lasted for four hours, the enemy were repulsed. The British loss was seven officers and seventy men. Melbourne, April 18. Dr Ryan Boyle, from New Zealand, to-day charged several women with the robbery of £llOO. The case was remanded owing to the doctors intoxication in Court, for which he will be prosecuted.
