“ JEgles,'* iu the Australian, writes as follows, evidently alluding to Bishop Tyrrell, the late Bishop of Newcastle : “An Anglican bishop, of New South Wales, whose flocks were not only biped but four-legged, delighted the Church by a bequest of a quarter of a million sterling. Here was joy and fatness! Alas ! for the treasure which rusteth. Alas, for the mutability of human affairs. I am assured on credible authority that the episcopal estate has utterly collapsed ; the quarter-million is—nowhere. The indeb’ed stations, whence the funds were to be provided, have swallowed up not only the private resources, but also, it is said, a diocesan fund of great importance. The deepest smypathy should be for those cn whom the latter loss will fall.” We believe great depreciation has taken place in sheep farming properties in New South Wales since the gift was made, but can hardly suppose the case is so bad as this. A Valuable “ Find -The largest diamond hitherto found at the Gape is the “Spalding” diamond, found in tho river diggings some years since which weighed 288-0- carats. At Duloitspan fields another large diamond has been recently found weighing 24.4 carats, which is said to be free from flaw and will cut well.
