Auckland, April 7 Three boys from the Industrial Home, Edward J. BearPton, E. Lysaghb, and Fred Hawsen, bolted, stole a boat and stood out to sea down the gulf. The owner, a waterman, went in chase .and captured the boat and crew. The youngsters had taken provisions from the Home, candles, etc. and were going on a voyage of discovery. Hugh M'Kinnon was washed off a raft of timber at Wangaroa and drowned.
Jas Eva iif, charged with unlawfully wounding William M‘Gnno o le, committed for trial at criminal sessions ; Win. Hays, stealing, six months; Henry Gill, stealing, nine months ; Te Miapi, Maori, twelve months ; Kip-, Maori, found guilty. There is a second charge against the prisoner. Christchurch, April 7. Weights for the Free ami Steeplechase Handicaps will be declared on Tuesday, and aeceptances*uttd final payments for Great Autumn Handicap are due on Thursday.
Rule 48 having been infringed by the nominator of Lara, a notice was posted by the Secretary of the Jockey Club on Saturday evening disqualifying Lara for the Autumn Handicap.
