GREYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB RACES.
The annual meeting of the Greymouth Jockey Club commenced yesterday, and, despite the inclemency of the weather, there were nearly 1500 people on the course. The races throughout were gamely contested and fairly won by the horses on their respective merits. The following are the events as they occurred : Teial Stakes, of 20 sovs ; 1£ miles ; entrance, 1 sov, winner of £4O to carry sft extra, of £SO to carry 7ft) extra, of £IOO and over, to carry 141 b extra; weight for age Mr G. Nottle's Blazing Star, aged, 9at 41b 1 Mr G. Stevenson's Lady Grey, 3 yrs, 7st 71b" 2 Mr J. Clarke's Corinthian, 3 yrs, 7st 101 b .. ... 3 Open Handicap Huedle Race, of 25 sovs, Two miles.
Mr H. Gilmer's Maori Girl, aged, 9at 71b 1 Mr W. Cochrane's Blue Bell, aged. 10st41b ... 2 Mr G. Wethered's Stoker, aged, Bst 101 b ?.. ... 3 Geeymotjth Jockey Clttb Handicap, of 100 soVB, with acceptances added ; 2 miles. Mr J. Clarke's Elfin King, aged, 9st 41b i Mr J.
