NOTICE. >URE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patron Hge of his Majesty the King of Italy, it Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated Hth March, I*B7B. "We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucylyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in manyjcases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts: — The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflamation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains (fee, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our .extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature, SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufac turers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, 1878. DUNCAN M'LEAN, "Wholesale Agent for New Zealand. . The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declaration and testimonials : , Epitome of declaration made before Merit* Cohn, J.P., on the 17th October, 1877, at .Sandhurst; —" Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe, of Ironbark, for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured, by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr Raa.be called on Messrs Sander and Sons, pro-cm-ing some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and by the ap. plication of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son within a fortnight ovit of all danger, and lie has now quite recovered," Brief Extracts from the Bondigo Evening News ; Mr Gieschin, .residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could sparcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. . The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cured after caking extract internally for six mouths. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as au interruption in his attendance at work. . Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbin (Ruunymede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven of age,' who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November Mis Reeves, from the Rifleman's Aims, Rack Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Rack Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend i<f the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable size, disabling her from attending to any worje. She removed the swelling completely by a continued application of the extract. .The Donald Times, of Ist December, 1877, states ; Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache. The extract was applied, and the little fellow was cured and. asleep in ten minute 3. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent fov New Zealand,
