KUMARA VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.

The" Usual monthly meeting of the Kumara Volunteer Fire Brigade, was held at the. Adelphi Hall, on Monday evening. Present: Captain Powell (in the chair) and eighteen members,. The inward correspondence, consist- 1 ing of letters from the Town Clerk (re removal of fire-hell), and also from Mr Jolly (demanding rent due for engin? house, viz., £lO 16s, being 36 weeks at 6s per week), was read and received. The outward correspondence was re id and approved of.

The Secretary wan instructed to inform, the Borough Council that the sit u voted for the lemoval of the tire-hell being totally inadequate to defray the cost, the Brigade request the Council to remove it at their own expense, as the Brigade possesses no funds for the purpose.

The Secretary was also instructed to inform Mr Jolly that the Brigade waa at present unable to comply with his demand.

Mr J. Doyle was unanimously elected a member of the Brigade. It was resolved that the circular from the United Fire Brigade Association stand over for consideration until next monthly meeting. The accounts of Mr Jolly (£lO 16s) and Messrs Cowlishaw and Plaisted (£1 10s 6d) were passed for payment. It was resolved that the Secretary be instructed to write to the Central Board of Education, asking for the grant of a section situated in Seddon street, for the Brigade. Foreman North reported all the gear in good working order, and the Treasurer also reported that the balance in the hank was “ nil."

Mr O’Brian was unanimously elected Treasurer, vice Mr O’Hara, resigned. Mr Magee was appointed DeputyForeman of the Fire Company by Foreman North. The meeting then adjourned.
