MINING REGULATIONS UNDER “THE MINES ACT, 1877.”
Any person 4i scov e>'ing new gold working, and being desirous of obtaining an increased area thereon shall mark off a prospecting claim, as provided in Regqlation 11, and shall inn mediately report such chVovery with full particulars to t]ie Warden, and the gronpd so marked off shall be protected ipitil the Warden shall have finally rp : fused pr gpanted the claijp ; but the Warden may, if he think fit, refrain from granting or refusing such ciaiip until thogroundshal I have been visited lly luinself orhy anyone appointed by liipp Notices of all prospecting phpma granted, with full particulars of locality, yield of gold, and description of workings, shall be posted by the Warden op the outside qf hiq office for public information.
It shall not be lawful for the Warden to grant a prospecting claim fpr any new discovery at e less distance tAvq miles from any previously existing workings in alluvial ground, nor to grant a prospecting claim for any new discovery of a quartz leef at a less dis. tarice than half a mile from any previously existing quartz workings. Every prospecting claim shall, after being marked, bp held by one mqn remaining on the ground during working hours until the ap)dication is dealt with, and, if grafted, tlie claim mnsst, unless by special permission qf the' Warden, be fully occupied within seven days from the date of grant.
The Warden piay, if he think fit, gripid a projecting clqjm to thg actual discoverer qf nqw gold workings conjointly with persons who have assisted thqm in prospecting either with coritiil bntipns pr otherwise, or with other persons who, may he nominated by the actual discovgiers, althqugh the said fiersoq? may not have beep on the ground prior to the granting thereof. The Wardpu may, upon the applica : tion of any persons forming a party of not jess than four, grant protection for not iqore' tlian three months for a prospecting area “ af a distance of pot less than two miles from any existing workings in piluvial groupcl, or in the qase of quarts workings of not Iqsathan half a mile frpm any existing quartz workings: Proyxded in no case shall any such prospecting area he granted \yithln half a mile of any other such prospecting area. Provided further that such protection shall only continue in forpe until gold is struck, ’in which ydse the discovery shall be reported, or until the holders are required by the Warden to mark a prospecting claim, in either of which cases a prospecting claim shall be marked and applied for as provided in Regulation 11. and Y-, and protection shall theruppn cease as to the rqmaiudqr oi such prospecting area. It shall be lawful for the Warden to renew foonx time to time the protection for a prpspecting area, Provided that such renewed protection shall not be granted fpr mqrq th*wx three mq.nths at anv time.
