IOTICE :
PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT, Under the distinguished patronage of jus Majesty the King of Italy, it Rpjne, according to cpininunication tepeived frorn the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructiphs frqrn the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated Hth March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in jnedicine often try to sell the eucylypjjyis oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the cominitting of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not he serious ; but as fhe qualities of both of the products sre in manyjcases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the folJgwing facts:— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be pf value as a medicament in cases of yheumatism pf sepondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase pflamation, and it is, therefore evident shat in cases of wounds, colds, bran-: phjtis, diptheria, croup, sprains «fec, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper? An application pf the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpenr pine, its market value being about three shillings one pound -weight; our extract consists pf the evaporating parades of the gum leaves, soothing sud healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shilliugs for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half punce and one ounce yials j vials, bearing on tlje labels our trade njark and signature.
