Auckland, February 15
The infant son of George Munro, Wairoa South, was accidently burned to death.

Several destructive bush fires in the northern districts—houses, haystacks, and fencing, have been burned, principally through the carelessness of tramps, Detective Farrell relieves Brennan at the Thames ; the latter comes to Auckland.
The Free Press runner, Patsy O'Brien, was knocked down by a cart and internally injured. The journal itself died the same dav.
