So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not he serious ; hut as the qualities of both of the products are in manyjcases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the, public attention to the fob lowing facts;— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to he of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect Upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflamation, and it is therefore evidentthat in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains &c., the cmv.tiye power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by: former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract most impair the diseased, , The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about thre> shillings one pound weight; our extract consists pf ihe evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothimand Imaling in its effects, it* mice being twenty-four 'shillings for* one pound V ein lit.
