The concert in aid of the building fund of the Wesleyan Church g,b Jjlje Theatre Royal last earning was.ap eriterfcainment of a different ebarfleter to those generally presented under the category of a concert, - as it consisted chiefly of sacred pieces, rendered as choruses, duets, or quartettes, in conjunction with reaUngepa-tbe Life and Dcrfth of little “ Eva,” as depicted in Mrs Stowe’s world-famed book ■“ (Jude Tom’s Cabin.” The choruses throughout were most effectively and admirably rendered, “ Home, sweet Hume,” and “Vital Spark” receiving marked approbation. A sola by KlLs Parkinson, “Tue' Happy Home” (fm chorus to which w:is sung by the choir) was rendered with exq lisite taste and feeling, as abo was the duet by tire s.une. Apted, the rendering of both s-mgs eliciting wed-nmriied applause. “Thou art passing away," it gram! sold, sung by Miss R Apted with excellent eff-ct, was most warmly applauded.
