Peeler the distinguished patroqHge of his Majesty the King of Italy, \t Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in jtnedicine often try to sell the eucylypjtns oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not he serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in manyjcases directly opposed to ope another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect ppon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflamation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains &c., the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. Vhe truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent fo common turpentine, its market value being about tiire< shillings one pound weight; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, southing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings fur une pound »,eight. Onr extract, the genuine aptupe, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade tparh and signature.
