LATEST UNPUBLISHED. [press agency.] CHILD BURNED TO DEATH AT THE HUTT. Wellington, February 3. M‘Kenzie’s house, at the Hutt, was burned down pn Saturday night. The fire arose from the explosion of a kerosene lamp. The flames spread with great rapidity. In the confu-ion, one little girl, aged five, was burned to death. The other children were rescued. The hou.-e and all its contents were entirely consumed. The house was insured in the South British for £2OO ; the stock and furniture were uninsured. M‘Kenzie, besides losing the whole of his stock (valued at £200) and all his household goods, lost £4O in cash. Clelan’s store, opposite, had a narrow escape; it was on tire at one time, but the tire was extinguished. It is understood that two or three gentlemen on the Board of Governors of Wellington College, intend resigning, owing to circumstances connected with the recent system ol management, and proposed changes in the same.

The Bloudettes or female Minstrels now playing in Melbourne are arranging a New Zealand tour, commencing at Wellington.

John Had*, formerly Registrar of Ihe Supreme Court, Napier, and subsequently of Wanganui, was arrested yesterday on a charge of larceny of liquor, from’White’s Hotel, Farndon. The landlord had for several days missed bottles of brandy from the store room, and, suspecting the servants, watched on Saturday evening, and saw Hare open the store room with a key, and enter. '.The ; landlord followed, and found Hare in possession of three bob* ties of brandy. A skeleton key was found on him. When the police Went to arrest him hare fell into a fit, and it was impossible to remove him, as he was suffering from delirium tremens.’ ' Later. • Hare is unable to be brought into town, and the medical men believe he will not recover. 1 ' The total .'.Customs revenue collected at Port Ahuriri (Napier) during the month of January amounts to £3946 9s.
