NOTICE. PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT, Uftder the distinguished patroipige of his Majesty the Ring of Italy, at Rome, accoi’diug to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated llth March, 1878. We ape informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in manyjcases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect Upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase luflamation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheiia, croup, sprains &c., the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application pf the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion, is founded Upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent fo common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; our extract consists of i lie evaporating particles of the gum leaves, southing and healing in its effects, its pi ice bein; tweniy-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature, SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufacturers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, 1878, DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealaud. The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sous, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declaration and testimonials : Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J.P., on the 17 th October, J 877, at Sandhurst :—“ Three medical gentlemen had attended the sou of Mr Raabe, of Xroubark, fur nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this June lion Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and Sons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and by the application of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his sou within a fortJiight out of-all danger, and he has now quite recovered.” Brief Extracts from the Bendigo Evening News : Mr Guschin, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in No vein I cr, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief.
