N O TICE. PU£.F YO r A TILE EUCALYPTUS LOUULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patromge of his Majesty the King of Italy, it Rome, according to communication received, from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne!, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. "We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the-qualities of both of the products are in many|cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism Of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. ; Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflamation, aud it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bron-, chitis,. diptheria, croup, sprains Ac., the curative power ’of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably, proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. , The truth of our assertion is founded npon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine; its market value being about threshillings . one ' pound -weight j our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, southing and healing in its effects, its pi ice being twenty-four shillings for one p-imd weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; viials bearing on the labels onr trade mark and signature.
