The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. FRIDAY, JANUARY 17, 1879.

The mail via San Francisco, conveyed by the City of Sydney, arrived at Auckland yesterday. We are compelled to hold over the news telegraphed, which, however, has been for the most part anticipated by late cablegrams. A concert will be given by Mr O’Connel, the celebrated violinist, on Monday evening next, at the Theatre Royal, in which he will be assisted by several wellknown local favourites. As Mr O’Connell bears the reputation of being a violinist of a high order of merit, we have little doubt that those who wish to enjoy a musical treat will avail themselves of this opportunity. The following notices of motion have been given by Cr. Foley for the next meeting of the Grey County Council, on the 20th inst. ;—“ That tenders he called for the repair of the road from Greenstone road to Revell’s Terrace.”—“ That tenders be called for the repair of the track from Greenstone to Lake Brunner.”—“ That a survey of the track from Haye’s Terrace to Payne’s Gully he made at once.” Mr W. Willway having sold his plant and interest in the Dyeing Business to Mr R. Ur John (who has become practically acquainted with the trade), bogs to solicit the kind patronage hitherto afforded him to his successor.—Mrs Upjohn announces that she is prepared to clean and dye hats, feathers, .gloves, Ac.., in the best stylo. N.B.—Gentl emeu’s clothes cleaned, dyed, pressed, and repaired on the premises.— Adyt.
