THE LAWYER'S FUTURE.
Iu the City of Halifax there dwelt a lawyer,.crafty, subtile as a fox. An Indian of the Miami tribe named Simon owed him some money. The lawyer had waited long. His patience at list give our, and he threatened the Indian with lawsuit, process and executions. The poor red man got sacred aid brought the money to his cieditor. The Indian waited, expecting the l.iwyer would write a receipt. "What are you waiting fop V asked the lawyer " Receipt," said the Indian. " A receipt?" said the lawyer, "a receipt; what do yon know about a receipt! Gan you understand the nature of a receipt 1 Tell me the use of one and T . will give it to you." The Indian looked at him a moment, and then said : ''S'p;>se may be me die; me go to heben, me find the gate locked, me see 'Postle Peter ; he say, « Simon, what you want r me say « Want to get in;' he say. < You pay Mr J. dat money f What me do? M.e hab no .receipt. Haw to hunt all ober hell to find you !" Ho got a receipt.
