[press agency.] Christchurch, December 12. Mr Floyd has been appointed i Manager of Railways and Telegraphs j for the South Island, and commences j his duties on the Ist January. It is i proposed to wholly dissociate the railway telegraph from the general telegraph of the Colony. New railway workshops are to b« commenced immediately upon a piece of ground adjoining the station at Addiiigton some 20 acres in extent.
