KUMARA PROSPECTING ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Prospecting Association was held yesterday ; Mr Dungan (in the chair), Mr Cuming, and Mr Wylde being present. The minutes of last meeting were refid and confirmed. The Secretary reported having obtained Mr Price’s signature to voucher for £24, and having sent the same to the Colonial Treasurer. Report No. 15 from the Prospectors was read, as follows : Report No. 15. To the Members of the Kumara Prospecting Association. Gentlemen—We beg leave to state that we have very little progress to report t.hig week in the way of shaft sinking, in consequence of the extreme inclemency of the weather. We made a start early on Monday, and carried over all our tools, rope, windlass, &c. Cut a main track over the high range, so as to take a view of the country beyond. On Tuesday we'cut other tracks, in order to farther examine the neighbourhood of our intended operations ; and on Wednesday one man had to go for tucker, although it rained very heavy ; so that

during that and the following dav, we could not venture to shift our camp.' But very early on Friday morning we struck d our camp, and shifted across the ranges ’ a distance of. two miles, and erected won our pew scene of operations. On Saturday forenoon, although still rain* ing, we made a start to clear ground for a shaft, and cut logs to log up same. Ahe track between our present and former camp is an extremely difficult one to travelthe, distanse is about two miles, the half of which consists in ascending and descending two ranges, one of which 18 *® tween two and threehundred feethigh. We conclude by stating that if gold is not struck here with from one to three shafts across our present imaginary line* there is no lead to be, found. Yours respectfully, Peter Anderson and Party, Prospectors. Prospectors Camp, December 7th, 1878, . The Treasurer reported haying paid wages up to Saturday, the 7th instant, £9. It was resolved, that the prospectors be instructed to bring in all!tools and other property belonging to the Asao* xciation by the evening of Saturday, the that operations be sus* pended untiKafter the holidays, and until fresh instructions are given by the Committee.
