For Mr Sandle, Messrs Seddon, Dale/ M‘Whiner, and Sandle (four) voted id favor, and five against; For Mr M‘Whirter six totes in favor Were recorded, Vis., MeSsra Seddon/ Lang, -Hirter, M'Whirter, Randle, and Grimmond, with three against. . . . Mr Jack and Mr Sandle having gained an equal ntlmbei* of votes, the two names were pot in again, when Mr Jack scored five, vie., Messrs Lang,. Dale, M'Goldriok, Jhck, and Grimmond; against Mr Saudle’s six, namely/ Messrs Seddon, Dale, Hitter, M‘Wbirter, Sandle, and Grimmond. The names of Messrs Dale and Jack Were then struck out, and a fresh ballot was taken for the remaining four, aS follows :
for Mr Gnmiriond—Sedddrij Dald* Sand Id, M'Groidrickf Hirtetf, jack* M‘Wliirter, and GtVimnioncl (8)1 Against Lang (1). . For Mr Seddon—Sdddonj M'Whiftdrj Etirter, Sandle, and Grimmond (s)i Against—Dale,. Langj M.‘GoldtSck< and jack (4). For Mr Sandle S'-dddn, Dale, Sandle, M‘Whirter, Grimmond (5)« Against—llirter, Jack‘M‘Gr ddrick, and Lang (4). . . For Mr M ‘ Whir cer-Lang, M'Whirter* Hirter, Jack, Sandle* and Grimmond (6). Against M‘Goldritik, Sedddiij and Dale (3).
The Clerk then declared the votes td he Giimmond 8, M‘Whirter 6, Seddon pi Sandle 5, the las f twd names he!fig tfaeti struck out, and n vote taken for Grimmond and M'Whirter, which re* suited thus 5
For Mr Giimmond—Dale, M'Fold* rick, Hirter, Jack, Sandle, Giimmond, (6), Against—Lang, M‘Whirter, (2).' For Mr M‘Whirfcer—Seddoxl, Lang, M'Whirter, and Sandle, (4) Against—* Dale, M‘Goldrick, Hirter, Jack, and Giimmond, (5). Mr Seddon then proposed, and Mr M'Wiurter seconded, that Mr Joseph Giimmond be Chairraait of the County, for the enduing year, which tfas pat and carried.
Mr Giimmond, on taking the chair, thanked the Council for tho honor done him. lie would strive to fulfil the duties of the office to the best of-his ability, and hoped he would give satis* faction. ‘
The meeting then adjourned lor A fortnight;
