ANOTHER FATAL COLLISION;
TWO HUNDRED LIVES LOST. London, November 26. The steamer Pomerania, from New York to Hamburg, collided with a barque off Folkestone at midnight. The steamer sank in ten minutes ; 200 were drowned and 117 saved.
THE AFGHAN WAR. Calcutta, November 26. The Dacca has been oecupied unopposed. The head men of Curd and Khalbar villages are offering their services, and supplies have arrived from all sid-’S, and a native contingent will shortly rendezvous at Lahore, when the future destination will be settled. Maharajah Ashmen is anxious to send a contingent to the invading army, but it is considered he will be of great service if he watch the Afghan border contiguous to h.is frontier. The Ali Mils] id prisoners are at Pea* hawtir. The rank and file will probably be dismissed, and the officers treated according to the custom of European war.
SHIPPING Melbourne, November 28. The Arawata arrived to-clav, and the Taranm sailed on Wednesday, and the Claud Hamilton to-day.
