MINING AT WESTBROOKE.
PUBLIC MEETING. : / A numerously-attended meeting of. miners was held last evening, at Westhropke, in Foley’s Store, for the purpose of taking into consideration what steps it would be necessary to take relative to an expected,difficulty which , may arise touching some private land in‘close proximity to Where’Juicing operations on a large scale will shortly be commenced. * * -Mr Corrigan was voted to the chair, : and briefly explained the object of the meeting, and that Mr Dungan, who' was present, would no doubt be able to give them full information on -the question under discussion. : Mr Dungan said he was fully aware that a feeling of anxiety prevailed among the miners on what was likely to, become a vexed question to themselves I and the wordings in the neighborhood, | and, as their old member in the Pro--1 vincial and Coanty Councils for years, he had a good knowledge of the matter . ; now before the meeting. He (the speaker) then explained generally the . nature of the grievance, and suggested the usefulness of appointing a com- . mittee to look after their interests, and ', ’ j that he. would be quite prepared on * I another occasion, on their behalf, to go * ‘ s mors fully into the matter. tile following gentlettien were unani* mously elected to act Messrs Corrigan, Blewtnan, O’Brian, M'Laughlin, and Murphy. The Committee were empowered to take any necessary action they might deem advisablehaving for its object the interests of thh mining community on the question at issue.. A vote of thanks to the chairman, and to Mr Dungan for attending, terminated the proceedings.
