LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. ’ Sydney, September 25. : The Eastern Telegraph Extension CJo. is willing to reduce its rates seventyfive per centum over their own lines, making the Tariff ss. Id. between London and Port Darwin. Burns and Berry agree that it is advisable to accept the offer, and an agreement with the company is probable. It is reported that the population have deserted Port Moresby, New Guinea. It is supposed gold has been discovered in the interior.
