[TRESS AGENCY.] Blenheim, August 17. Mr Edum.vtnd Eccles Secretary to the D’Urvilles Copper Company died suddenly at eleven o’clock last night. Wellington, August 16. The s.s. Zealand!*, with the July London mails of 18th, left San Francisco on sth August, contract date. The City of Sydney, with the New Zealand July mails, from Auckland of the 23rd July, arrived at San Francisco on 14th August, one day. in advance of contract date. Mr D. M. Luckie will shortly assume ibc editorship of the Evening Post; and Henry Anderson, who has resigned his position as editor of the Post, takes charge of the Evening Chronicle. The Working Men’s Club celebrated the opening of their new premises last night by a dinner. The Club started but a short time ago, with 20 members only. It has now 300 members ; and the financial affairs <>f the Club are in a satisfactory position. Christchurch, August 16.
