HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.
A special meeting of the Hospital Committee was field in the Borough Council Chambers last evening. There were present : .Messrs Todd (in the chair), Everett, Rogers, Anchor, Barron, M'Kenzie, and Scott.
A complaint from Richard Brady was received, and the same was referred to the Visiting Committee. A letter and statement of account from the Secretary to the Westland 11capital, shewing a balance due of £36 Os Id, was read and received. A letter was also received from Mr KisSenliavdt, and a telegram from Mr Barff.
It was resolved that the plans and specifications for building the new Hospital be returned to Mr Eissenhardt, with instructions to modify them so that the cost of building may not exceed £3OO.
A proposition was carried- that the tenders for building the Hospital be not accepted, and the Secretary was instructed to return tenderers’ cheques. It was proposed and carried that applications for a Surgeon to the Hospital lie inserted in the Melbourne Argus, Sydney Herald, Lyttelton Times, Otago Daily Times, and the Wellington New Zealander ; the salary to be £2OO per annum, private practice being allowed.
The meeting then adjourned till next Tuesday.
