KUMARA PROSPECTING ASSOCIATION.

The members of the above-named association met at the Town Hall, last evening. Present: Messrs Dnugan (in the chair), Geany, Roach, O’Hara, Wylde, and Cuming.

The minutes of the last meeting .were read and confirmed.

Letters to the Minister of Lands, Messrs Barff, George, Gisborne, Henry, and Woolcock, were read and approved of. The first report of the prospectors was read, which stated that they had commenced a shaft two and a-half miles down and about ten chains south of the tramway, and that they were very much troubled with surface water. They had sunk tea feet, slabbed, and paddled up, nnd had also got timbers for 40 feet. The bad weather retarded progress very much, but they would steadily push the work ahead. The Treasurer reported having lodged in the Bank £5 Ils fid, and £5 16s fid, being the subscriptions for the last two weeks. Also that he had received £6 Is for the present week’s subscription, ending last night. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Cuming, seconded by Mr Geany, “ That the Treasurer be authorized to pay the wages of the prospecting party next Saturday, the 17th of August.” The following accounts were passed for payment: Mr Anderson £1 Is, and the bellman, 10s. It was resolved that the next meeting of the Committee be held on Monday next, the 19th inst., and that thereafter the Committee meet every alternate Monday. It was also resolved that any member of the Committee who shall from this time be absent from three consecutive meetings, shall cease to be a member.

The meeting then adjourned until Monday next.
