KUMARA PROSPECTING ASSO—CIATION.
A meeting of the members of the above-named association was held hist evening, at the Town Hal). Present: Messrs Dungan (in the chair), O'Hara, Anderson, Wylde, Holmes, Rogers, Roach, Geany, Cuming, Ancher, and Pearn.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Mr Holmes reported that he had collected £7 8s being the amount of last week's subscriptions. It was proposed by Mr Wylde, seconded by Mr O'Hara and carried—- " That an account be opened with the Bank of New Zealand, in the name of the Kumara Prospecting Association, and that all moneys received be lodged to that account."
On the motion of Mr O'Hara se* conded by Mr Geany, it was resolved "That cheques be signed by Messrs Diingan, B»gers, and Anderson ; any two of those names to be sufficient signature." , Mr DangEtn was appointed Treasurer, on the motion of Mr Cutniug, seconded by Mr Geany.
Moved by Mr Geany seconded by Mr Cnnling—'• That the wagi j s be fixed at 30s per man per week • and that all tools lie found by the men except blankets, ropes, and bellows."
An amendment was moved by Mr O'll mi, and seconded by Mr Pearn—- " That the amount of wages be 25s per
nun pi- week, and the. association find all tools except picks, shovels, aud axi's "
The amendment was lost and the original morion carried "
Resolved, on the motion of Mr Cunv iug seconded by Mr Rogers—" Thatap* plications be invited from miners willing to prospect for the Association, in parties of three, by advertisement. Applications to be sent to the Secretary before noon on Monday the 29th inst. Moved by Mr Ancher, seconded by Mr Rogers and carried—-' That, on ceipt of applications, the number be re± duced to three, by open voting, and that the final election be by ballot."
Resolved, on the motion of Mr Wylds, seconded by Mr Holmes—- " That the first party be set to work between Kumara and the beach ; and the next party between the end of Larrikins and the Chrwtchurch road."
Messrs O'tfara, Dnngan, Oumingj. Geany, and Wylde were appointed a Sub-Committee to communicate with the Government and the members of the Assembly re subsidy. The Secretary, in calling for anplica- 1 tions, was requested to noiifv that the first prospecting would be towards the sea-beach; A Vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Holmes for bis services in collecting the subscriptions 5 and he wasieq>4ested to continue as collector for another • fortnighr. Messrs Cuming, Ddngan, and Wylde, were appointed a depuration to wait 011 the Warden (M. Price, Esq.,) with a view to obtaining his assistance towards the objects df the Association. .Tb> meeting then. adjourned until Monday next, at 8 p.m.
