EDUCATION RESERVE COMMITTEE MEETING.

A meeting of the Committee appointed at the public meeting last week to' 'endeavour to get the "Education Reserve abolished, met at the "Town Hall, on Wednesday. The following members were present: Mr Cuming (in the chair) Messrs Ryan, Dungan, Holmes, and Wylde. , ,;, The following resolutions were passed :

1.. That Mr Wylde be requested to act as Honorary Secretary. ' 2. That Mr Pearn and Mr Anderson be added to the Committee. 3. That the Chairmen of the Commissioners of Education Reserves be written to informing him of the appointment of the Committee, with the objects thereof, and requesting the cooperation of the Commissioners.

4. That the Commissioners bo writ-ten-to requesting that the tax on miners mining within the Reserve be at once abolished or suspended. 5. That petitions to the Governor and to the House of Representatives be prepared, praying that the Education Reserve may b 8 cancelled; and that the petitions be forwarded through the Colonial Secretary and Mr Barff, M.H.R.

6. That the petitions be drawn up by a Sub-Committee, consisting of Messrs Dungan, Cuming, and Wylde. 7. That in the event of the Hon. Mr Sheehan visiting" Kumara, the Committtee bring the question of the cancellation of the reserve 'under his notice.
