ENTLEMEN —At the request of a \J large number of the Electors, and after giving the political situation the fullest consideration, I have decided to present myself as a candidate for your suffrages. During the ensuing week I will ad-: dress you at the various centres of population within the district. I will then fully explain my. political views. In the meant! me I will only say that, while prepared to give the policy enunciated by Sir George Grey, a general support, 1 will not pledge myself ((if elected) to blindly follow up any particular leaders, but will consider upon its merits every measure introduced into the House—whether by the Government, by the Opposition, or by independent members.
