The election of two gentlemen to audit the accounts of the Boz*ough Council will take place at the Council Chambers tomorrow. The poll will be opened at 9 a.m., and will close at 6 p.m. The polling for the election of a member to the vacant seat in the County Council will take place on the Bth prox. The names of the candidates and the various polling places are notified elsewhere. The case of Warren and party v. Fahey and others was heard in the Warden's Court yesterday afternoon, and caused some interest among miners. A report appears elsewhere. Had this case been adjourned for the attendance of Mr Wilberg, (which was suggested), who might not have been able to put in an appearance for some weeks, considerable loss of time would have been caused to the litigants, and if a third survey had been ordered a week's delay would have resulted. We congratulate both side 3 on the arrangement finally arrived at with the assistance of the Court. We take the following from the Inangahua Herald : —"A paragraph which we reprinted from the Lyttelton Times in our last issue, and which had also been published in the Grey River Argns, lias been the means of raising a doubt as to the likelihood of tenders being accepted for the construction of bridges in this district. Mr R. Reeves, M.H.R., tole- • graphed to the Government, and has received a reply that there is no foundation for the rumor which is understood to have prevailed." The Wellington Chronicle says that the Government are pushing on rapidly with the preparation of the important measures which they intend to bring before Parliament next session. These, of course, include bills providing for manhood suffrage, increased representation, and a change in the incidence of taxation. The Government expect that if there is no factious opposition offered the session will not hist more than two months. Attention is directed to the Cash Palace bargains, advertised in another i column. Burns says, with gloomy grandeur, i "There is a foggy atmosphere native to my soul in the hour of care, which makes j the dreary objects seem larger than life." I Ho who suffers thus cannot be relieved by | any appliances save those that touch the heart—the homelier the more sanative—and none so sure as a wife's affection. True, 0 poet, but he who suffers the racking pains of rheumatism, sciatica, or lumbago, should use, combined with your prescription, " Ghollah's Great Indian Cures," the wonder of the nineteenth century. Testimonials may be seen in another column, and Medicines may be procured at all Chemists.—[Advt.] For miraculous cures by the use of Eucalypti Extract, read fourth page.— [Advt. ]
