VALENTINE BAKER.
This once notorious soldier is rapidly coming into favour again in England; During a recent visit to that country he was shown all the honours usually accorded to a distinguished general, and "Atlas" writes in the World:—l understand that a great lady, has expressed herself in a very kindly and feeling manner with regard to General Valentine Baker. While approving of the generis spirit which prompted the Duke of Sutherland to an excercise of hospitality which carried 1 with it analmost forma] rehabilitation of the late Colonel of the 10th Hussars, she has hinted that the manifestation in question was pprhaps premature: but the criticism has been very gentle, and accompanied by an indirect intimation' that the gallant Pasha will not forever rest under the frown of his Sovereign.
