BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Saturday, April 20; The Council met at 11 a.m. Present: Hia Worship the Mayor; Crs. Ancher, Bnlstrode, Campbell, George, Hannan, Hanna, O'Hara, and Pe.irn. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The name of Cr. Bnlstrode was added to the Ho. pital and County Chambers committees, and Cr. Harman was appointed chdrman of the same. The auditor's rejnrt was read and received, and it was ordered thnt it be published in the Kumara Times. It was resolved that the Mayor and Cr. Anchor be delegates to attend any

meeting that may be called by the Mayor of Hokitijca for the purpose of considering Hospital matters. ' Accounts to the amount of JSSS ißs 2d were passed for payment. The Town' reported that he had received a writ fi\m the Arahura Road ■ Board demanding payment of £2OO, and that he had not yet 1 received any reply from the Government with respect to the subsidy. ■"■■•■ It was resolved that the Town Clerk take what steps he may deem necessary in the matter. Upon the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Gr. Aticher, it was carried—- " That the footpaths* with kerbs'and | water-tables, be formed on the following* conditions, viz. that petitions be presented to the' Council from the residents requeuing that the footpath* be formed in conformity with bye-law No. 11; each petition to be for not less than § chains of footpath, and to'.be sigued by residents occupying not less than three-fourths of the length, and who shall undertake to pay their proportion of the cost, viz. £2 for each half chain."
