VOLUNTEER RIFLE MATCH.

Soon after eight o'clock yesterday morning the bugle called " the assembly," and shortly after many of our local Riflemen were seen on their way to the Drill Shed, where, under Lieut. Munyard, they paraded, and at once marched to the Tramway Station to receive their opponents tor the day and com-rades-in-arms' the Greyinouth Rifle Ringers. Subsequently, the ilokitika Rifle team, under Capt. Bonar, arrived per coach, and at once took up a position, with the Kuinara contingent at the terminus.

j On the arrival of the tram with the Grey mouth rangers, Captain Re veil being in command, they were received ! with the usual salute, and the three teams at once marched off, headed . b y the Dillmau’s Town Brass Band, to i the Drill Shed where the men where dissmiased for half an hour. As will be seen by the subjoined scores our local marksmen suffered a defeat on this occasion, but having previously beaten Hokitika they are i now equal, and the final match between ; the two will, we understand, be fired shortly. The caterer (Mr Rugg), pro- . vided a first class luncheon on the ground, which was found very acceptable as the distance from town precluded competitors from leaving the range , during the whole day.
