BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Thursday, March 21. The Council met at 2 p.m. Present; Hi.s Worship the Mayor, Mr Seddon ; Grs. Ancher, Corufoot, George, Hanna, *nd O’Hara. The minutes of the previous meeting Were read and continued.
The Town Surveyor was instructed to have drained the sections on the west side of lower Main street, and to charge the cost to the householders.
'• It was resolved that, copies of the bye-laws be sold at 2s each. It was ordered ithat the Ministprbf Public Woi ks l>e written to, requesting that the Government lace along Fourth street be covered in immediately. The folk)wing reports adopt-d : - t . , o*t

As this month closes thefinauciMtyim, I would respectfully suggest that the .following Committees being: no longer required, should be discharged The ByeLaws Committee, the Offices Committee, the Standing Orders‘Cbffiffiittee, ; i : the Industrial Arrangements Committee, the Reception Committee, the Mods off Payment Committee. • ~.
If these Committees are discharged, the following will still remain The Printing Committee, the Cemetery Committee, the Water-supply Committee, the FiAance Committee, the Public Works Committee, the Reserves Committee, .the .’Contracts Committee. • , ; • ( p.;. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE-', j, H ,.
The Committee have to report that they have instructed the ’ Borough! diililH&yor not to put any more gravel on the roads until after the end of the financial year. They have to recommend that, after the end, of the present ffibnth, the roadman be paid at the fate» bf* fnll time being allowed.y >’i ' ( ; . ; , j CEMETERY COMMITTEE:) ]A The Committee have to report that,the Cemetery, being now sufficiently .cleared and marked off into allotments te,hteet requirements for some time to cdmej 'thfey recommend that the serviebs of the Section be dispensed with for 'tlm present,) and that he receive one month’s notice te that effect. The Committee . consider yfhat graves can be dug when necessary by roadman. At the same time they wish to express their satisfaction with the mamw in which the Sexton has earned out his duties.
