GREYMOUTH RACES.
The second day’s races took place yestei’day. A soraewha.t discouraging drizzle, the Argus states, set in early in the morning, and continued with intermissions of greater or less energy during the rest of the day, causing the course to be almost as,soft as the heads of some of those who staked their, money on the wrong: horse, and there were a considerable number of tlxese. But if the weathfer was bad,,the racing was good in each instance indeed, it*' may be said that the race for the Goldfields Handicap was one of the prettiest seen on the Greymouth course. The attendance of the public was consider-. ably less than on the previous*day, but much larger than might have'been expected, considering the weather. |
