The Kumara Times. PUBLISHED EVERY EVENING. TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 1878.
Jt is,,only u,nder very exceptional circumstances that, any reference should be made in the editorial columns to the purely commercial affairs of a newspaper ; but, in view of recent events, we may be pardoned for stating that it hris ! been gratifying to us to learn from the publisher, that within the past week ( there has been a marked increase in the circulation\of this journal, and that amongst those who have.in this practical * manner. expressed sympathy with us in the course 'we have seen fit to adopt are many iiitelligent members of the Roman Catholic Church!! There has also been handed to the publisher a paper extensively signed by prominent citizens of all creeds, who state :their determination- to double, 'and- in some instances treble 1 ,- :,: tb:eir' j subscriptions; The intrinsic valde of thjs is, of course, nothing ; as cohipatfed with its worth as testifying ; to. / .appr l obation .of the general body of readers,; and we shall always treasure the document as a spontaneous, remarkable,, aud unique expression of public opinion.
