FATHER HENNEBERRY AND INFANTICIDE.
[to the editor,] Sir, —In your issue of the 19th ulto., you drew the attention of your readers to the startling assertion made at Dunedin, by Priest Hennebery, respecting four million cases annually of infanticide in the land of our American Cousins, (which the Priest termed lessening responsibilities,) meaning, I presume prernature put-aways, and that tliis number was endorsed by Bishop Moran with an additional, million added thereto. The above being the charge against our distant relatives, it is only reasonable for • us, to enquire; on: what these Priestly slanderers ground their assertions. All doubtless ~ are aware ; the latitude the “Ten Commandments” give to confessors of the Romish Church,, thq interrogation to the feinale penitent. “Hast thou done any mortal sin?” is probably the way in which' head-quarters (the Bishops) arrive at these 'horrifying conclusions. Having relatives in,, America- is the reason of my- troubling *y6u in Reference to this teetotal demagogue.—l, am, &., •■' i' : : ■ i iSCRUSATORI Kumara, March 12th.-, | .; ~; .
P. S. Will Mr Barff, who voted against the Education Bill, after this, further insight support a denominational vote to a church -which neglected educating the masses for 1800 years ]—a query for his coming meeting.
