A conference of the signatory Powers to the Treaty of Paris is arranged to be held at Baden-Baden. The British squadron has withdrawn from Constantinople to Mudania, on the Southern shore of the Sea of Marmora.

The Russian troops have occupied a redoubt within the lines of the defence of Constantinople. The European situation is less threatening. It is expected that Germany will exercise a moderating influence over Russia.

Earl Derby, in replying "to a question said the Government had received no information that the Russian troops had entered Constantinople, but had received a despatch alluding to the possible advance of Russia upon Gallipoli. The Russians evacuated the redoubt within the lines of defence of Constantinople whieh they occupied.

It is denied that the Russians are advancing on Stamboul or Gallipoli. Three thousand Christians have been massacred in Thessaly.

The Princess Charlotte, daughter of the Crown Prince of Germany, was married at Berlin yesterday amidst great festivities. The Princess of Wales and the Duke of Connaught were present, and met with a warm reception. The Conclave met to-day, when 66 cardinals were present. Consols, 95 ; bank rate of disc mnt, 2; market rate, 3| to 4|; New Zealand loan unchanged.

The United States Senate have adopted a bill reverting to silver dollars as a legal tender, the paper currency to be withdrawn from circulation at the rate of four millions per month.
