At the Evangalistic Service held by the Rev. Mr Kirkland in the Theatre Royal last evening, there was a moderate attendance. Mr Virtue of Hokitika, who was also present, addressed the congregation at the termination of the Rev, gentleman’s remarks. There will be a similar service held this evening. A short meeting of the Borough Council, at which no business of importance was transacted, was held yesterday evening : present—His Worship the Mayor, Councillors Ancher, Hanna, Hannan, 0 Hara, and Campbell. After the inward and outward correspondence had been read, the following resolutions were passed ; General be thanked for providing a letterbox in Seddon street, and that he be again asked to appoint a letter-carrier.”
