From a telegram published in. another column it will be seen that the system of electing local eoumiittees under the new Education Act, \ipon which we commented yesterday in strong terms, has already in Bunedin had the effect'we anticipated.' Resolutions, we are told, were passed to endeavor to have the defects in the Act remedied: At the inquest held yesterday on the body of the late Zachariah Boult, the jury returned the following verdict:—''That the deceased Zachariah Boult committed suicide by jumping over the Arahura bridge, when in an unsound statu o£ mind."
