not much inquired after, and the others, with the exception of Warlock, appeared to be qxiite friendless. The result of the race corroborated public opinion, for the two favourites came clean, away from their opponents, and a ding-dong struggle ensued, both running as true as steel, but the brother to Richmond lasted the longest, and, getting his head in front a few strides from home, won a most interesting race by ,half a neck. Warlock proving the best of,the others, was never in the hunt. The winner is a brown «olt by Maribyrnong from The Fawn, and though taller, perhaps, than his distinguished brother Richmond was at his age, he lacks the great substance of Mr Jelletjk's horse-, yet he is symmetrically formed, arid proniisesrtd&follow in the footsteps of his relative. He was bred by Mr Andrew Town, at his stud farm, Richmond N.S.W., and, when a foal, was sold to Mr. James Wilson, for Mr. H. Power, we believe, for several hundred guineas. His previuus performances have been of an •excellent character, for though he was ■defeated through greenness in the Marifcyrnong Plate, he showed different form in the Plying and All-age Stakes, both of which he won like a race-horse ; and defeating a first-class colt like Roodee, as he did to day, satisfactorily proves that Mr. Wilson's estimation of the youngster. was not exagerated. Roodee was'defeatea, but riot disgraced, for he himself like a racehorse, and probably when they meet again he will turn the tables upon his doughty -opponent.
