In the Supreme Court in the case James Sharley versus James (Jerrard for libel the claim was for ,£1000; the verdict was for plaintiff, damages £SO, carrying costs. The plaintiff is the Postmaster and the libel consisted in reports by the defendant that plaintiff opened his letters.
