PROPOSED LADIES BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
At the meeting of the Ladies' Benevolent Society yesterday, the following being piesent, viz: Mesdames Barron, Spiers, Horneman, Birch, and Phillips, and Misses McGurk and Ferris—Mrs Phillips ■ was elected President; Mrs Horneman,' Secretary; and Mrs Birch, Treasurer. It was decided to canvass at once the district, dividing it into four parts, three ladies to canvass each part; also that the Hospital Committee be invited to co-operate in holding a monster fg'te at Easter, the proceeds to be divided between the two institutions. After canvassing the district, the society expect to be in a position to relieve any deserving cares repoi-ted to them.
