The Licensing Officer will sit tomorrow to deal with applications for new houses, &c.

The Burgesses will be called upon to elect three Borough Councillors tomono w. There are five candidates, viz., Messrs Quinn and M'llroy, who have been so recently elected, and Messrs J. H. King, D. Hannan and A. C. Campbell. Mr H. Burger announces that from this date his premises in Seddoc-street will be known -as the Kumara tobacco Depot. He will be prepared to supplyall the requisites for smokers.

"We have been favoured with permis.sion to publish the following telegram received by a gentleman in town. " The Education Bill will probably "be thrown out. Edmund Babff." The Westland County Council have adopted the report of their committee recommending " that all money paid for licensing fees in Kumara, nfter July Ist last, be refunded to the Kumara Borough Council." The Kumara Cemetery has been dulygazetted.

J. S. Hicksou, Esq., has been appointed Registrar of Marriages ami of Births and Deaths, and also Vaccination Inspector for the Dist:ict of theWaimea. Mr Hickson has resigned his appointment as J. P.
