[press agency.] Nelson, August 21. Shares in the Queen Bee Wreck Recovery Company, the original price of which waa £SO, are now selling at £320. Iceland, August 21. William White, a middle-aged man, was charged to-day with committing an indecent assault upon a girl named Catherine Carr, 12 years old. He was remanded. The steamship Lionel was wrecked while entering Whangape Harhor, and five men were drowned. There was a heavy break on at the time, and in crossing the bar the first sea broached the vessel to, and the second breaker turned her over. All hands aboard were drowned. One man stuck to the wrecktill after sunset, strenuous exertions being made by those ashore to save him but failed. A boat was manned from the shore, three times, and upset each time. The schooner Queen - Bee has been wind bound for a fortnight, through continous bad bar at the Heads. The brigantine Odalisk, just loaded, bound for Adelaide. Dunedin, August 22. A public meeting was held in First Church to protest against opening the Museum on Sundays. Resolutions, strongly disapproving of the action of the Museum Committee, were carried unanimously; and it was resolved to petition the Governor to have it clpsed on Sabbath days Napier, August 22. At the R, M. Court this morning, Robert France was fined on three charges of infringement of Stamp Act, five pounds in each case, for giving receipts for rent to Fortune and Black, bakers, without affixing a stamp thereto. The costs were £4 10s. The prosecution was by Fielder, Deputy-Com-missioner of Stamps. Christchurch, August 22. Justice Johnston has delivered a very important judgment, A few days ago an application was made in Chambers to move H. E. Alport, one of the trustees in bankruptcy, from the trusteeship of the estate of Thomas Andrew. From affidavits read when the case was argued, it appeared that at an advertised meeting of creditors there was no one present but Alport, who, although not a creditor, held several proxies: with one of these he proposed himself chairman, and with another he seconded the motion, and then as chairman of the meeting he declared the motion carried. The judgment of the Court pronounced the election to be null and void, and moreover contended that there must be two persons to make a meeting.
