Nelson, August 13. Edward's:and Co, have received a telegram from Shaw, Saville, and Co., London, in reply to one announcing the wreck of the Queen Bee, and stating she was uninsured.

Bishop Moran lectured oh the Education Bill last night, and said that so far as it relates to Catholics, it ia the most tyrannical measure that exists anywhere except in Russia or Germany. The opening of the Museum on Sundays, is likely to lead to a great deal of opposition from the Sabbatarian party. The master ironworkers and manufacturers have resolved to prepare a petition suporting the action of. the tradesmen to prevent the importation of work which can be manufactured in the Colony. The Australia did not call at Honolulu because the Government of the Sandwich Islands had failed to ' make good their promise of a subsidy for the advantages of the stearaersoalhng there, twice a month. The omission on the voyage was in accordance the permission granted to the contractors pror visioaally, in November, by New South Wales and New Zealand. /
It is reported the Eaciflo Mail Company propose to take another steamer off the service, and run with three'boats only. • : :. .

August ,14., Green lias' returned, per jjSasby, from Sydney, whither he had been sent to identify a man apprehended by the Sydney Police on suspicion that he was Cunningham, who is accused of the Ohau murier. Green says that the man is not Cunningham. Advantage will be taken of the Supreme Court Judges Sitting in Banco tomorrow, when all the members of the legal profession will assemble, • and formally disclaim any participation in; or sympathy with, the action;now beinw taken by Mr Barton, against thflir Honors the Chief Justice and Mr Justice Richmond.
It : is understood that the order of. the day .for the second reading of the Native Lands Court Bill will be discharged this afternoon, and that Government will ask-leave to introduce a short bill, providing for all transactions in Native Lands by private individuals for twelve months. Leave will also be asked to withdraw the motion respecting incidence of taxation, on the understanding that Government will consider the question during the recess, and bring forward the necessary measures next session.
Auckland, August 13. The railway was opened to Ngaruawahia to-day.
Ross, August 13. The body of the man found on the Mikonui beach on Friday afternoon, was brought in on Saturday to Ross, completely denuded of clothing, except a pair of watertight boots, with a spur on the right foot* and a small piece of light tweed trousers. At the inquest on Saturday, Constable Keating stated he believed the body to be that of Timothy Halloran, an Okarito settler, who was met by Mr : Etheridge at Allen's ten days since. Mr Donnelly has been to Okarito since, but Halloran had not arrived. There is no positive identification, as the features are disfigured. • ■ Dunedin, August 14. Several men, who were provided with free passages for the works at Balclutha, have tramped back to town ; others are going about the township idle, refusing to accept the wages offered them. Blair concludes on railway routes as follows : — u In concluding, if it is the intention of Government to take steps towards constructing a. railway into the interior of Otago, I have no hesitation in recommeuding the Strath Taieri line as emphatically a shorter and easier route and one that will in its course open up most good country for settlement. I may also add that I believe there is every chance of a railway in this direction being remunerative in a very short time.!' ..
